What is a Climate Action Plan?
In April 2022, the Department for Education released a sustainability and climate change strategy specifically for education. By 2025, all education settings are expected to appoint a sustainability lead and develop a climate action plan. This plan will guide schools in both implementing and educating about various sustainability initiatives.
Our Sustainability Lead is Mrs Julia Armstrong.

At The Glebe Primary School, we are committed to creating a greener, healthier future—starting right here in our school community. Our Climate Action Plan outlines the practical steps we are taking to care for the environment and help our pupils build lifelong habits that support our planet.
From the classroom to the playground, we are learning how to reduce waste, save energy, and make thoughtful choices about how we use resources. Sustainability is part of how we learn, how we live, and how we look after each other and the world around us.
Our plan includes actions such as:
- Recycling and reducing single-use plastics
- Using energy and water more efficiently
- Growing plants and encouraging biodiversity
- Exploring climate and environmental topics in lessons
This work matters because the choices we make today shape the world we live in tomorrow. By learning together and taking action, we can help build a more sustainable future—for ourselves and for others.
